PETERSEN MEDIA- Running inside the Top-10 during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA on Saturday night, Kerry Madsen would get collected in a wreck during a double file restart that would see him finish in the 18th position.
“The track was extremely heavy, and I felt we were good enough to maintain and finish with a Top-10 or maybe even a Top-Five, but it did not go our way,” Madsen explained.
Timing the Keneric Health Care/Keneric Group/American Racing Custom Wheels No. 29 entry in fourth fastest in his qualifying flight, ‘The Mad Man’ went on to run second during his heat race and earn a berth into the night’s Dash.
Lining up in the fourth row of the six-lap Dash after the inversion draw did not go in his favor, Madsen would finish in the seventh spot, which put him in the fourth row for the A Main event.
On a track that continued to get faster as the night went on, Madsen would hold his own while running in the Top-10 as he battled with the likes of Sammy Swindell and Kyle Hirst.
Holding down the seventh spot for nearly the first half of the race, trouble would ensue during a restart on lap 15, and contact would send Madsen into the front stretch wall.
After making a quick stop at the work area, Madsen’s Keneric Racing crew would get him back on the track, but he would be stuck in the back of the pack and in thick traffic for the remainder of the race, as he went on to finish in the 18th spot.
“Sometimes things are out of your control,” Madsen added. “The boys gave me a pretty good car, but we just had some bad luck. I think we are continuing to get better and hopefully we can get back to Stockton this week and repeat some of our past success there. Huge thanks to the Gavarnich family and everyone that backs us.”
